Senior Accountant

WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies, including maintaining accurate amortization schedules for prepaids and debt instruments.
- Review bank account reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies with accounting support staff.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes for designated areas.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets including, but not limited to, project accounting and ledger to subledger reconciliations.
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial data.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
- Experience supporting monthly close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Demonstrated experience owning key accounting processes while actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- History of building strong relationships across organizations, proactively collaborating with stakeholders to solve problems, improve outcomes, and support business growth.
- Experience driving process improvement efforts across accounting operations, leveraging data, technology, and cross functional collaboration to enhance performance.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Dynamics or comparable platforms.
- Ability to work with large data sets and produce accurate, timely analyses.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to create efficiencies within the current accounting business processes.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance partners.
