Laboratory Technician I

Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat® dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for a Laboratory Technician I.

The Cleveland Brothers Fluid Analysis Lab is a high-throughput testing facility that supports customers by analyzing used lubricating oils, coolants, and diesel fuels from heavy equipment, on-road trucks, generators, and other industrial assets. Our lab helps identify equipment issues early, reduce unplanned downtime, and support better maintenance decisions through fast, accurate testing and practical report interpretation. We operate in a production-focused environment using specialized instrumentation and work closely with both customers and internal teams to deliver reliable, timely results.

Location: Harrisburg, PA

Position Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, no weekends

Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician I is an entry-level role that supports the day-to-day operation of the fluid analysis lab through sample handling, sample preparation, data entry, and general lab support. This role rotates between hands-on work in the lab and office-based data entry. The Laboratory Technician I helps keep sample flow moving and supports the team in meeting daily production and turnaround goals.

Responsibilities

• Review, sort, and organize incoming samples
• Prepare samples for testing on lab instruments
• Load and unload samples on various lab machines
• Enter sample information into the lab database
• Verify sample information and help identify missing or incorrect data
• Assist with basic instrument support, including cleaning and routine setup tasks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Dispose of processed samples following lab procedures
• Support senior lab staff with daily operational tasks
• Follow all lab procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or coursework in a science, technical, or related field is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic computer skills and accurate data entry ability
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently on routine tasks
• Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team
• Prior lab, manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is a plus
• Familiarity with LIMS or similar systems is a plus

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a laboratory environment handling oil, coolant, and fuel samples
• Requires standing, walking, repetitive sample handling, and data entry throughout the day
• Must be able to lift and carry sample trays and containers up to 50lb
• Must be able to safely follow all lab and company safety procedures
