Engineering Manager- Electric Power
Responsibilities:
- Lead and approve full electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, load studies, and system integration details for BESS, Solar PV, and EV charging deployments
- Oversee and guide design of DC Fast Charging (DCFC) sites, including load analysis, transformer and switchgear sizing, distribution layouts, and thermal/ventilation requirements
- Provide senior-level technical guidance to Sales Engineering teams during scoping—supporting equipment selection, system configuration, and feasibility assessments
- Support project execution teams by resolving engineering questions, responding to RFIs, and directing real-time design adjustments during installation and commissioning
- Manage and validate system protection and control studies, ensuring appropriate device coordination and distribution reliability
- Direct integration of DER systems—BESS, Solar PV, and EV charging—into microgrid and multiple DERs
- Oversee electrical system studies, including short circuit, arc flash, load flow, grounding, and harmonics—performing or coordinating analyses as needed
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and utility requirements, and provide technical leadership for interconnection applications and utility coordination
- Develop engineering talent, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining high standards of engineering quality and consistency across all deliverables
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required; master’s degree in engineering or engineering management preferred
- 12+ years of relevant experience in LV/MV power distribution, protective relaying, and distributed energy resource integration. experience in power and energy systems
- 5+ years in a leadership or management role within the power and energy sector
- Proficiency with ETAP, AutoCAD, and/or Revit
- Strong communication ability to translate complex engineering topics for non-technical stakeholders and field personnel
- Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce engineering processes, QA standards, and performance metrics
- Experience managing utility-scale interconnection processes and requirements
- Knowledge of EV charging standards, load-management strategies, and demand-response programs
- Strong focus on safety-by-design and system reliability principles
- Experience with HOMER, Energy Toolbase, Helioscope
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical and energy storage standards, including NFPA (70 (NEC), 70E, 855), UL (9540(A), 1741, 891, 1558, 2202(EV Charging)), and IEEE/ANSI (1547 (Interconnection), C37 (Relaying), C57 (Transformers))
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record
