We are currently seeking talented individuals for our EPG Tech 3 position!
Here is some of what you’ll do…
POSITION SUMMARY: Without supervision, the EPG Tech 3 will perform duties as assigned by the Branch Coordinator in the repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of equipment in the service shop or field, in a safe, efficient, and capable manner in the least amount of labor hours necessary and without rework.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots mechanical problems in Caterpillar and allied products.
- Makes warranty recommendations and prepares reports when performing warranty service jobs.
- Attends training classes as directed and obtains passing grades in all.
- Reconditions or overhauls major components to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Recommends action to correct failures or problems.
- Adheres strictly to all Hawthorne safety, housekeeping, and credit rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains a favorable business relationship with customers, suppliers, and other Hawthorne personnel.
- Takes scheduled fluid samples.
- Diagnoses System and Component failures.
- Upholds all safety and housekeeping standards.
- Handles Equipment Condition Reporting.
- Receives pertinent information, such as procedures, policies, and changes, from other Hawthorne personnel, customers, or factory representatives that will be passed on to management personnel if deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.
- Must have PC skills.
- Three (3) years experience in the repair and maintenance of Commercial/EPG/Marine power generation equipment required.
- Must have advanced system diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
- Must own hand tools that are suitable to perform the work noted above.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to document and record site and equipment conditions, prepare written work procedures, and work scope documents. Must be able to prepare final reports suitable for presentation to end users.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain and up and down stairs.
- Hands/arms: Operates equipment and hand and power tools.
- Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment, parts, tools, and paperwork.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Vision: Reads spec sheets, invoices, parts books and service manuals, and reports on the computer.
- Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person.
- Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person.
- Sitting: Sits at desk and in vehicle or equipment for extended periods.
- Laying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
- Lifting: Lifts up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works outside and in shop with variations of temperature and weather.
- Exposure: Subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
