WHAT YOU WILL DO
You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and locating mechanical deficiencies on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment. This is a highly customer-facing role, and you will be the primary support contact for customers. You’ll work out of a company-provided field service truck as you travel to various customer locations.
You’ll also
- Provide high quality and timely repair service on equipment, engines, and powertrains on customer site
- Perform welding and brazing on equipment
- Fabricate and modify parts, equipment, and miscellaneous structures and attachments
- Interpret and analyze hydraulic and electric schematics and wiring diagrams
- Interpret technical instructions and safety/service manuals
- Serve customers’ needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner
- Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Field service technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through an accredited technical school or equipment dealership manufacturer training preferred
- 5+ years of previous hands-on relevant experience with CAT equipment or similar industrial equipment and/or industrial engines
- 5+ years of experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting diesel-powered construction equipment or truck engines
- Must do company-reimbursed overnight travel occasionally (up to 25%)
- Must be able to work independently in remote locations
- Must own a basic set of industrial tools, including industrial hand tools, air tools, torque wrenches, and multimeters (Insert tool program)
- Possess and maintain a current, valid state drivers’ license and CDL/DOT medical card based on assigned vehicle weight
