We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Senior Corporate Accountant position!
Here is some of what you’ll do…
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Corporate Accountant is primarily responsible for overseeing the monthly accounting close process, preparing financial statements, and coordinating information requests for various external auditors. Additionally, the position prepares ad hoc reports for operational departments, ensures proper accounting in accordance with GAAP, and assists in various projects to streamline processes.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Reconciles and analyzes accounts to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and accounts balance to sub ledgers. Researches and resolves any issues identified.
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
- Reviews inventory accounting methods, analyze inventory reports and investigate discrepancies.
- Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly end close
- Consolidates, reconciles, reviews, and analyzes financial information and supporting
documentation for submission and/or reporting. - Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and document findings.
- Ensures that periodic revenues are recognized in compliance with US GAAP and applicable company policies.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
- Partners with the operations team to address inquiries on unusual transactions
- Prepares annual consolidated financials statements including footnotes and external reporting packages.
- Calculates, records and classifies monthly revenues from the company's different products, performs analytical procedures and investigates fluctuations from budget with different business units
- Spearheads our annual financial audits
- Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Provides ad-hoc assistance
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with five (5) years general accounting experience.
- CPA Preferred
- Advanced computer skills required using Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and ERP systems
- Experience with month-end/year-end close process
- Experience working for a company whose financial statements are audited
- Experience in accounting software conversions preferred, but not required
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Must have a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to effectively present information to leadership.
