The Engine Technician IV is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Will complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
- Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
- Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
- Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect and adjust assemblies with ability to self-monitor work quality.
- Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
- Determine and perform warranty repairs using CAT warranty guidelines.
- Ability to complete a cooling and air intake audit.
- Perform engine alignment.
- Timely parts and core returns with appropriate documentation.
- Timely return of warranty parts with appropriate documentation and packaging.
- Perform warranty downloads of ECM downloads.
- Accurate and timely service reports and timecards daily.
- This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
- Proficiently and accurately diagnose and troubleshoot problems on gas and diesel engines, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical engine repairs and adjustments.
- Apply specific failure analysis and procedures in determining proper diagnosis.
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and emission adjustments.
- Mentor Engine Shop Techs I, II and III as needed.
- Independently perform engine and component rebuild.
- Other duties may be assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer AA in Applied Diesel Technology.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software and Order processing systems.
- Successfully complete Work steps assessment.
- Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
- Lock out /tag-out certified as required.
- Must be able to obtain or currently posses’ adequate tooling to perform duties.
- Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work.
- This position requires mastery knowledge of CAT product knowledge and in-depth skills of the electrical, electronic systems, and components of a gas and diesel engine.
- Mastery of all hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, lap tops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
- Proficient in failure analysis
- Must be certified in all required Engine Shop Tech I, II, and III training requirements and/or demonstrated performance.
