THE OPPORTUNITY
Louisiana Cat is seeking an Electric Power Sales Representative to join our growing operations within our Electric Power division. This position reports directly to the Electric Power Sales Manager. The role will interface daily with the Electric Power Sales Manager, Customers, other functional departments and suppliers. The position is directly responsible for growing the industry segment's customer base and developing relationships to meet profitable revenue goals.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
- Identify prospects, develop customer relationships, evaluate needs; make recommendations using proper Caterpillar equipment application principals, make effective presentations and close orders.
- Manage assigned sales territory with emphasis on developing new customer accounts while meeting requirements and objectives set forth by the Power Systems Division, the Electric Power Sales Manager and the company. Analyze the market and report on competitive situations that will impact business unit's objectives. Set in place and implement a sales strategy consistent with the business unit's long-range sales objectives.
- Develop and achieve forecasted sales and account performance goals approved by management.
- Assist in development of customized power solutions that meet individual customer needs.
- Develop and influence engineering specifications with key engineering firms in the electric power market.
- Understand and follow credit department procedures and policies to obtain credit approval for all customers. Assist credit department with collections when required.
- Keep current on the activities of competitors and advise supervisor of those activities that could impact the success of the business unit's objectives.
- Keep current on all Caterpillar power products, sales policies and programs.
- Maintain a high degree of sales and leadership professionalism through study and attendance at Caterpillar and other business associated training seminars.
- Participate in principal trade and professional association activities to keep abreast of economic conditions and business opportunities and trends
- Keep customer files and account information current.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and that we consistently meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

MOST IMPORTANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electric Power Systems Sales or closely related industry sales
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
JOB FACTS
- Ability to act as a sales consultant conducting physical hands-on heavy equipment and truck inspections
- Ability to travel within defined sales territory and valid U.S. Driver's License with clean MVR (Motor Vehicles Record)
- Must be willing to relocate within the state of Louisiana for future advancement opportunities
- Must live within the assigned territory
