Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of shipping containers/ offices to and from various customer job locations and stores. This position involves local hauling of shipping container/ offices and supplies as well as loading, unloading, and securing the shipping container/ offices. Additionally, this position will assist with rolling cable, inventory assistance, helping load/unload customers and various shop and/or yard activities when applicable.

Essential Functions:

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision,     Values, and Mission
  • Delivers and picks up shipping containers/ offices for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner
  • Secures shipping containers/ offices utilizing chaining, strapping, and blocking under strict accordance and established procedures
  • Performs pre- and post-vehicle inspection; Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery trips
  • Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
  • Completes DOT-required driver's daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentation
  • Performs basic troubleshooting involving malfunctioning equipment at the job site and makes minor repairs
  • Demonstrates proper and safe equipment usage to customers at the point of delivery
  • Obtains required signatures on rental contracts, pick up, and exchange forms
  • Assists with yard operations, inventory assistance, load/unload customers, and various shop and/or yard activities whenever required in a safe and efficient manner
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of industrial engine, transportation, and safe driving procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Quality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Operation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systems, forklift experience
  • Equipment selection skills - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • The ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions
  • Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems
  • Ability to maintain a clean driver’s record and diligent attention to safety
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences


Education and Experience:

  • High school or equivalent diploma preferred
  • Three years’ verifiable driving experience required, with verifiable over-the-road experience operating combination commercial vehicles
  • Valid Driver’s License with Class A CDL required to include the ability to maintain the License required
  • Possess knowledge of and/or previous experience in driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment, and operating safely within high-traffic or congested city zones and in small areas

  • None


Travel:

  • Daily travel up to 100%

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down ladders
  • Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work


Work Environment:

  • Requires working in a closed vehicle or equipment
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions including extreme conditions such as heavy rain, wind, or excessive temperatures
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and/or high places
