Under limited supervision, the Class A Welder is responsible for making sound structural repairs with all welds neat in appearance or ground off flush in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”
Pay rate: $28.75 - $48.67 per hour
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience.
Essential Functions:

- Prepares inspection reports
- Inspects structural condition of equipment
- Removes and installs components and parts to make necessary repairs
- Reconditions or fabricates components or parts to manufacturer’s specifications
- Determines reusability of parts in accordance with published guidelines
- Orders replacement parts
- Makes warranty recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria or caused by abuse, normal wear or rework
- Makes recommendations to manager on action to correct the failure or problem
- Builds and bores components
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists Class B and C welders as required, providing them with guidance and instruction in their work
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of welding experience, preferably in the heavy equipment industry
Physical Demands & Competencies:
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
- Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 85 pounds or more
- Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
- Safety & Product Knowledge
- Ability to search for and enter data into a computer
- Ability to type service reports
