POSITION SUMMARY
Repair and overhaul new and used paving equipment and/or company owned equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read job order and observe, listen, and diagnose all types of Caterpillar machines.
- Perform general shop repairs on equipment.
- Keep records of service reports and work orders.
- Disassemble unit and inspects parts for wear.
- Repair or replace parts such as pumps, hoses, motors, valves, and bearings.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, emission, and powertrain components and repair.
- Rebuild parts such as screeds, auger, and conveyor systems.
- Repair vibratory systems, generator/heater system, material feed systems, and grade and slope controls.
- Repair and adjust hydraulic systems.
- Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Safety (SB198), and shop procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write service reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to fulfill the essential functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to apply to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); four to seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Class C driver license and a clean D.M.V. report.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
COMPENSATION
Wage Range $37.56 to $51.53 Hourly
Wage depends on knowledge, skills and ability to perform the responsibilities of the job.
Hourly rate of pay as negotiated with Operating Engineers, Local #3. Excellent company-paid benefits including medical, dental, retirement, vacations and holidays.
