The On Highway Sales Representative promotes the profitable sale and product support of On Highway equipment/products in the Company's territory to achieve sales, profit, and market share objectives while maintaining customer relations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
  2. Ability to operate a P.C. (Windows, Excel, Word, etc)
  3. Able to climb on, operate, and inspect equipment
  4. Sales experience required
  5. CDL preferred
  6. Ability to work independently or in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Organize and disseminate technical information pertaining to On Highway products (Thomas Built Bus, Western Star Trucks, etc.) and programs as well as competitive data, to ensure customer perceives the best value regarding products and services
  2. Cover assigned territory by traveling to/calling customer locations to conduct sales calls, meetings, equipment inspections, and achieve sales volume, profit, and market share objectives
  3. Prospect and develop new customers and markets and maintain customer relationships through professional and ethical business conduct
  4. Assist customer in equipment recommendations, financial analysis, and problem solving by furnishing technical and production analysis assistance utilizing performance handbook, technical literature, computer programs, industry experience
  5. Continually monitor customer satisfaction with the Company and its products, and handle and submit customer problems and/or complaints with product or dealer services
  6. Develop and maintain knowledge on products, applications, industry, selling skills, and product support to enhance and achieve required sales performance
  7. Appraise competitive standards - Interpret their effects on products and the Company's policies
  8. Provide training to end-user customers on operational, maintenance and warranty issues
  9. Keep management informed on customer buying practices, industry activity, etc.; submit required reports accurately and on time and maintain a program of self-improvement training
  10. Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner; display a professional attitude; comply with company dress code
  11. Participate in branch, regional, and general sales meetings, and attend CAT and other company represented product and market training schools as scheduled
  12. Participate in local trade and industry association functions
  13. Accurately submit all required deal documentation including, but not limited to, quotations, breakdowns, security and lease agreements, machine activity reports, warranty forms, etc
  14. Inspect trade-in equipment, assist in establishing fair values and profitability remarket
  15. Report any items of interest or required information to appropriate person and/or department (i.e., technical information, customer credit, customer concerns, market surveys, competitive activity, customer mergers or buyouts, etc) and assure appropriate action is implemented
  16. Cooperate with all company departments regarding credit, fair trade values, insurance, taxes and product support to ensure both sales objectives and customer requirements are met
  17. Influence/assist in preparation of state school bus specifications
  18. Identify customer bus requirements and provide technical support and analysis
  19. Perform other duties as necessary and assigned
