JOB SUMMARY:  
 
Technical Communicator's primary responsibility is to act as a point of contact for the resolution of all product problems, and commercial and technical issues between Caterpillar and the dealership for the Equipment and Power Systems Division. Technical Communicators will also control the technical information within the dealership, including the distribution of electronic service publications and letters. This person will also perform occasional on-site assistance to field servicemen in trouble-shooting situations. Occasional travel is required to attend Cat technical seminars/training sessions. In addition to these functions, the communicator may have additional responsibilities such as warranty processing or product application engineering (fabrication, customizing, etc.). Travel will be required during the training and orientation period.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 
  
Either Ten (10) plus years of experience with Caterpillar Electric Power Systems generator equipment as a service technician, shop, or field; or similar experience desired.  Must have a basic understanding of Caterpillar and Ohio CAT warranty policies and claim procedures.  Must have completed basic courses in engines and generator systems, and be able to read and explain schematics as used in Caterpillar service manuals.  High School Diploma required. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
