Environmental Compliance Manager

This position has corporate responsibility to plan, direct and implement company environmental programs personally and through other supervisors and managers. Accountability for compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations is essential to this position in protecting the corporation from potential fines and regulatory intervention and scrutiny.
Starting wage will depend on experience and education. $ 89,960 - $112,748
Essential duties and responsibilities of an Environmental Compliance Manager include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Environmental Responsibilities
- Writes and implements corporate environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Conducts routine inspections for company locations to detect potential environmental hazards and compliance with company policy and local, state and federal regulations; maintains an Environmental Scorecard that rates each store’s compliance with these regulations and policies. Manages/coordinates the follow up to ensure corrections are made.
- Plans and manages environmental programs to train managers, supervisors and employees on proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous material.
- Provides assistance to managers and employees with proper selection of compliant solvents, paints and other hazardous materials. Also assists with selection of hazardous waste haulers and handlers, and hazardous waste disposal methods.
- Leads environmental investigations and inspections related to company policy or governmental regulations (e.g. CERS/CUPA, stormwater, SMARTS, air district). Cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for use in responding to legal or regulatory inquiries.
- Provides oversight and coordination for all company industrial waste handling to ensure regulatory compliance (i.e. RCRA, non-RCRA, universal waste, clarifier wastes, etc.).
- Updates and submits environmental permits/reports for 25 locations, including: Annual CERS plans/permit to operate, SPCC plans, SB 14 hazardous waste minimization reports, SMARTS plan, air district permitting/reports, sewer permit reports, TPID.
- Ensures annual gasoline tank inspections are performed in two locations, and emergency engine logs are completed properly in accordance with air district permit requirements.
- Manages annual EVQ reporting and Hazardous Waste Generator Fees.
- Creates and manages a tracking system for company hazardous waste manifests.
- Coordinates emergency response for reportable spills and/or environmentally related accidents.
- Manages lead acid battery program and rebates, and waste oil rebates, through vendors.
- Coordinates required 5-year Title 22 inspections of each site’s waste tanks.
- Processes environmental-related invoices.
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in related field preferred; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position demands a thorough knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations affecting Quinn.
