The Parts Counter role is a dynamic, energetic, and sales-oriented problem solver for our customers.  This position is the first point of contact for customers seeking expert advice, timely solutions, and a seamless buying experience for their parts and equipment needs. Our Parts Counter employees will be responsible for generating sales, maximizing customer satisfaction, and acting as a problem solver for both internal and external customers. This sales-driven position plays a critical role in building strong customer relationships by delivering tailored parts solutions and a superior level of service.


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, both in person and over the phone, by identifying their needs and offering accurate, timely and cost-effective parts solutions.

  • Drive parts sales by actively promoting replacement and spare parts for equipment, including upselling related products and services to enhance customer value.

  • Proactively provide recommendations when OEM parts are unavailable, offering modified or alternative parts to ensure customer needs are met without delay.

  • Generate competitive quotes, communicate lead times, and offer shipping options based on customer requirements, always keeping customer satisfaction as the top priority.

  • Process sales transactions, special orders, and returns accurately in the system.

  • Examines parts returned by customers for defects and exchange as needed or issue credit when necessary.

  • Accurately distribute parts inventory to customer fulfillment needs.

  • Determine and communicate which parts are potentially covered by warranty.

  • Assists service technicians by looking up and ordering parts for equipment repairs in the shop and in the field.

  • Responsibility for showroom presentation by having sales aids such as pin and bushing mockups, track simulators, and maintains handouts and literature on parts.



 

Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED required. 

  • 2+ years of counter sales experience in the heavy equipment industry required.

  • Proven knowledge of mechanical and parts terminology.

  • Candidate must have strong attentive to detail and communication skills. 

  • Ability to operate computers and inventory management systems.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment.  


Preferred Experience: 



  • Diesel trade school or mechanical trade school preferred.

  • Experience with ordering, researching and sourcing heavy equipment parts. 

  • Proven knowledge of construction parts terminology.

  • Experience working directly in the heavy equipment industry (construction/transportation/material handling/Agriculture equipment). 

  • Experience with inventory management and proactively communicating with leadership on lower levels of inventory. 

  • Intermediate experience with computer programs and MS Suite. 


 


Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Candidates must live within 50 miles of branch location. Drug/Background/Physical screening is required prior to hire.
