Electrical Controls Tech II

The Electrical Controls Technician II position is responsible for adding value to our industrial and petroleum engine sales by adding requested specific electrical enhancements to custom designed engine packages.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Independently wire for batteries, alternators, lights and engine control systems (12 and 24 volts).
- Independently operate all assembly tooling.
- Assemble harnesses, install sensors, connect gen sets to the load bank.
- Decipher electrical schematics to identify improvement areas as needed, troubleshoot problems and make suggestions for product/process improvements.
- Flash engine ECM’s using CAT ET software.
- Load bank test gen sets and perform vibration analysis on gen sets.
- Offer direction and guidance to team members in regards to the installation of electrical components.
- Collaborate with internal engineering team to resolve design issues and operational malfunctions.
- Occasionally assist customers with troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Document all repairs, testing and assembly upon completion.
- Operate forklifts as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years engine experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Our Electrical Controls Tech III’s must possess electrical and mechanical tools.
- Ability to comprehend and compose instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Possess general understanding of national electrical codes, regulations and hazardous area requirements.
- Basic knowledge of engine related electrical components and controls.
- Must be able to pass WorkSTEPS for this position.
