Field Technician
Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat® dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for a Construction Equipment Field Technician.
Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., your local Caterpillar dealership, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our growing team.
Position Summary:
In accordance with management directives this position provides supervision to Shop Service personnel and Clerical employees to ensure that all job assignments are carried out in the most efficiently prescribed means possible while reaching the highest attainable degree of quality and delivery performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage truck shop service personnel, while fostering good management relations.
- Maintain existing sales and increase sales to existing and new customers.
- Maintain high level of customer satisfaction by identifying and resolving problems promptly.
- Manage service expenses and profitability.
- Maintain service Key Process indicators (KPI) results to acceptable levels.
- Effectively manage work in process (WIP) by ensuring work orders are closed in accordance with established timelines.
- Conduct regularly scheduled safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report on job related accidents or safety concerns.
- Coordinate outside vendor repair work with shop work in progress.
- Ensure all warranty requirements are met.
- Actively enforce all Company policies and procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Assign building maintenance duties on daily basis.
- Operate basic office equipment.
- Perform other work related duties as assigned.
Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of over the road trucks and their application.
- Thorough understanding of Company practices and policies in relation to the direction of the work force.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes.
- Solid computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and convey technical information.
- Strong customer service orientation.

Position Summary:
The successful applicant must have 3-5 years of relevant working experience and be able to operate and maintain all types of earthmoving and construction equipment. The successful candidate must also have good human relations skills and abilities as well as the personality to successfully communicate, and problem solve with customers. Customer satisfaction is of primary concern. The essential functions of this position include the ability to independently and successfully diagnose and repair equipment.
Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Previous experience working on heavy equipment
Knowledge of paving products
- Knowledge of diesel engines
- Knowledge of hydraulics
- Knowledge of electronics
- Intermediate computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
As a Field Mechanic you are required to work in an industrial environment which includes
exposure to significant environmental conditions. Physical requirements include:
- Overall stamina
- Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing
- Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, listening, and speaking
- Must have good motor coordination skills
- Coordination of eyes, hands, and feet
- Verbal intelligence, and numerical intelligence
- The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold
- Injury exposures, and atmospheric exposures
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must meet DOT regulatory & CBE requirements for operating CBE or related vehicles
- Must sign all documentation to meet DOT regulations and CBE requirements
Graduate of a technical school, military school, or relevant working experience acceptable to the company.
