Field Technician - Marine

The Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving the service and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team.  Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate, and repair include diesel engines, marine gears, and electric power generators.  Extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician fleet. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.  The Technician will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.


 



  • Plan and perform repairs using correct tools and procedures

  • Order and return parts for assigned jobs in timely manner

  • Perform the following tasks on engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install, disassemble/reassemble, perform adjustments

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance service according to factory guidelines

  • Demonstrate proper use of service information systems

  • Work as helper in field service with more experienced technician if required

  • Adhere to all applicable and required safety standards and procedures

  • Work independently and as a team in the field as required

  • Overnight, weekend, holiday, and out of town work sometimes required
