Job Description
Peterson Cat has the immediate need for an experienced Lead Technician at our Hillsboro, OR location.
SUMMARY
The Shop Lead Person coordinates service department activities to provide prompt service to customers and other departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
- Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- Organize, prioritize, schedule and assign work in the department to optimize department productivity.
- Initiate and respond to communication with department supervisor, other departments, and customers in a timely manner to optimize customer satisfaction.
- Review all work orders for accuracy.
- Monitor department work in progress to ensure jobs are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Keep current on service, repair, and modification procedures for all brands and models of products assigned to the department.
- Perform service and repair activities as needed to ensure department productivity.
- Assist the department supervisor in service and customer relations issues as needed.
- Provide technical support and assistance for all department activities.
- Provide on-the-job technical training to department technicians as needed and make recommendations for formal training activities for department technicians.
- Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

- Must maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Ability to obtain lift truck operator certificate.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
