Training Supervisor

The Training Supervisor is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of the technical training and soft skills curriculums for all trainees at the Warren Cat Brownfield facility; as well as, any reporting and/or record keeping, as needed, to ensure the overall training strategy is effective. This position requires mastery CAT product knowledge and in-depth skills of the electrical, electronic systems, and components of gas and diesel engines; as well as, good public speaking skills and the ability to relate to a diverse group of people, both one-on-one, and in a group setting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Collaborate with on-site Service Manager to provide direct supervision to all trainees while on the shop floor; as well as, during allotted classroom hours, to continuously evaluate that established learning outcomes are being met during all working hours.
- Confer with management, training staff, and the Training & Recruiting Specialist to determine training objectives for novice level technicians
- Write training programs, including outlines, texts, handouts, and tests; as well as, design laboratory exercises
- Facilitate in-depth technical training and softs training one week per month, as scheduled by the Training Manager, on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment, time management, housekeeping, teamwork, and other topics as outlined by the Training Manager, and following outlines, handouts, and texts to provide trainees with an in-depth knowledge of engines, heavy equipment, and soft skills needed to be productive technicians in a shop/field setting.
- Demonstrate procedures being taught, such as programming and repair.
- Observe trainees as they apply new knowledge and answers trainees' questions.
- Administer written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to training facility and integrates information into training program.
- Maintain the classroom and training equipment in good shape to facilitate learning.
- Supervises, directs and evaluates programs. Exercises judgment, selects appropriate methods and techniques for resolving problems.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Established or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules and maintains time and production records.
- Influences people rather than demand others.
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing and hiring, and training employees; coordinating with Service Supervisor on planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- An Associates degree from an accredited two-year technical college, or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- To attain a CIAP (Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program) certification within one year of employment and maintain that CIAP certification throughout their employment in this position.
- A passion to educate and be dedicated to the personal improvement of mechanical students and find value and satisfaction in developing their skills and knowledge
- The ability to present educational information in a way that brings interest and enthusiasm to the classroom, including leading classroom activities with a variety of hands-on and “book” learning in a way that keeps students motivated.
- Skills/experience in conflict resolution skills and maintaining confidentiality
