Manufacturing Technician - HOLT Manufacturing
Job Summary: This is a manufacturing position responsible for performing basic assembly and installation of components by providing mechanical and electrical services following established procedures and guidelines. Works independently and as a member of a team to provide technical services that satisfy internal and external customer requirements to achieve manufacturing goals.
Requirements: Generally has two or more years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge/skills. An MFG Technician II relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Basic knowledge of standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. MFG Technician II performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks – mechanical and electrical; works under moderate supervision; is a team member of product production and flow.

Essential Functions:
- Follows guidelines and procedures to set up and provide mechanical/electrical services that satisfy customer requirements and achieves manufacturing goals
- Performs assembly and disassembly of basic procedures utilizing drawings, blueprints, and symbols in coordination with current standard work for generator sets, engine packages, water tanks, and other manufactured products including custom products to meet customer requirements
- Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) and Kaizen events to continuously improve processes, safety, and quality
- Learns skills to interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation processes
- Assists in the removal and installation of parts; disassembles and assembles components
- Learns basic skills to complete work orders and assembly of products and their components
- Ensures all installations/builds comply with specific procedures and quality standards
- Learns basics to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions and failures; participate in RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) team to eliminate reoccurrence
- Performs and completes tasks with immediate supervision
- Communicates job progress, issues, solutions, and improvements to the team
- Completes assigned jobs and tasks to minimize variance to job or project
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Technician Training Path
- Learns and performs processes as outlined in Standard Work to develop and maintain consistency between shifts and areas
- Transports material in an area or between areas utilizing overhead crane, jibs, carts, magnets, and other devices
- Works as a member of the manufacturing team to provide high-quality products that satisfy the customer (internal and external) and achieves manufacturing goals
- Owns performance of equipment and work area through regular operator checks and maintenance resulting in operational equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition (Operator Performed Maintenance – OPM, and 5S)
- Observes and adheres to all safety aspects/policies/training/call outs at all times and requires reporting of all near misses and incidents
- Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
- Assists with quality inspections, complete reports/documents, and any other necessary paperwork, and enforces required rework before customer
- Communicate variances to established processes for an area or product
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, gensets, and electrical
- General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Operation and control skills of equipment or systems
- Learning equipment selection skills by determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
- Good work habits, accuracy and exceptional attention to detail and quality of work and awareness
- Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
- Ability to develop thinking and problem-solving skills to learn and understand the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process
- Required to work as part of a team with a strong work ethic being dependable, reliable, and honest with demonstrated integrity
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair including an overhead crane
- Ability to operate a conventional forklift
- Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
- Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated
- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two or more years of work-related experience preferred

Physical Requirements:
- A significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
- Constant movement and use of limbs, hands, this position require good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath blocked and cribbed products.
- Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
