SENIOR VIDEOGRAPHER
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Senior Videographer in Richmond, Virginia. The Senior Videographer leads the creation of compelling, strategic video content that elevates the Carter brand and drives customer engagement across digital platforms. The individual in this role requires a seasoned visual storyteller who thrives in both technical and creative environments, someone capable of working with high-level talent, executives, and field personnel to deliver content that is professional, authentic, and effective. Seeking candidates with a minimum 10 years of professional experience in cinematography, video production, or digital storytelling preferred. Experience with NFL/ Sports partnerships and knowledge of co-branding restrictions & opportunities. Bachelor's degree in production technology, Film, Media, or related field.
Requirements for the Senior Videographer include:
- Demonstrated ability to work with high-profile talent and in high-stakes, technically demanding production environments.
- Working knowledge of construction, manufacturing, or machinery-related industries; willingness and ability to quickly learn and adapt to these sectors are essential.
- Familiarity with industrial-style or rugged-location shoots, including working under varied and often challenging environmental conditions.
- Proficiency in editing and color grading software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects).
- Deep familiarity with professional camera systems (RED, Sony, ARRI, Canon, drone, go pro, timelapse, etc) and accessories.
- Strong visual sense, attention to detail, and ability to manage end-to-end video pipelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to direct talent and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
- Must be willing and able to travel regionally to job sites and events for filming.
- Experience capturing real-world environments such as field operations, technical setups, and equipment-intensive locations (e.g., commercial shoots, industrial sites, or live event productions).
- Proven ability to translate complex, technical, or product-focused subjects into clear, engaging visual stories.
- Comfortable directing and filming in fast-paced, gear-heavy environments, balancing safety, logistics, and creative execution.
- Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., engineers, marketing, creatives, technicians) to align production with brand and business goals.

Essential Duties for the Senior Videographer position include:
- Conceptualize, shoot, and edit high-quality video content, including customer testimonials, internal communications, social campaigns, recruitment videos, product showcases, and brand stories.
- Direct and film on-camera talent, including executives, technicians, influencers, and field operators, maintaining comfort and professionalism on set.
- Lead pre-production planning: develop scripts, shoot lists, storyboards, and production schedules aligned with strategic marketing goals.
- Operate cinema-grade cameras (e.g., RED, Sony, Canon) and support equipment (gimbals, drones, wireless systems) to produce polished visuals.
- Manage post-production workflows using tools like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects. Ensure content meets quality and brand standards.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications to distribute content across web, social, and internal platforms with attention to platform-specific formats and trends.
- Work in-field on job sites or remote locations to capture authentic, real-world visuals of equipment and personnel in action.
- Maintain and manage video production gear and ensure all safety, legal, and logistical requirements are met.
- Stay ahead of trends in video production, storytelling, and content strategy to keep Carter’s content fresh, innovative, and impactful.
- Align with content calendars and advocate for necessary production timelines.
- Step in and ‘pinch hit’ with graphic design when needed.
- Effectively keep track of and tag all assets in our repository to best manage the effective use of canned/B Roll material.
- Incorporate assets provided by Caterpillar seamlessly into the Carter aesthetic.
- Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
