Job Description

Peterson Cat has the need for a Commodities Representative at our San Leandro, CA location.

SUMMARY

Provides support to the Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) role and increases overall parts commodity sales throughout the territory by delivering parts and commodities to local customer base, building strong customer relationships, and partnering with customers to successfully manage their parts inventory stock.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with local PSSR on a daily basis to support parts delivery, provide customer support, and grow CAT/and non-CAT commodities sales.
  • Complete scheduled and non-scheduled customer deliveries and sales calls on a daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis.
  • Develop customer delivery schedules as business needs dictate.
  • Inform customers regarding Caterpillar commodity products including but not limited to Hardware, Shop Supply, Filters, Ground Engaging Tools (GET), Batteries, Hoses, and Fittings.
  • Communicate all potential sales leads to PSSR and Product Support Sales Manager (PSSM).
  • Operate company or personal vehicle on a regular basis to deliver parts and perform other essential job functions.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.  
  • Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure. 
  • Respectfully take direction from supervisor/manager.  

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college; and a minimum of two years of directly related experience in customer service role, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.

The pay range for this position is:$25.42 - $29.87. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
