Hiring Our Heroes - Safety Specialist
Overview
This requisition is only for service members participating in Hiring Our Heroes Cohort 25-1.
Under the direct supervision of the EHS Director the Safety Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and supporting initiatives related to safety, health, and environmental protection.

Responsibilities
- Maintain Driver Qualification files and ensures their compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Identify and inform EHS Director of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through monthly facility audits.
- Maintain required paperwork to comply with standards (recordkeeping) and assist with updating Safety Incident Metrics in a timely manner.
- Assist with incident investigation process, safety audits and safety training as required.
- Responsible for tracking and data entry for related reports such as OSHA, MSHA, DHEC, and DOT logs.
- Communicate health and safety requirements to all levels of the organization.
- New Hire Orientation Training, including Hands-on Equipment Training
- 30% in-state travel is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or Safety certifications (OSHA, EPA, NFPA) required, Bachelor’s degree inenvironmental health and safety or a safety related field preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
- Experience in emergency response
- Experience conducting a job safety analysis and knowledge of JHA.
- Experience using Microsoft Word Excel, PowerPoint SharePoint, and Teams.
- Ability to analyze incident data, processes, and machinery operation for potential safety concerns.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving personnel issues in the workplace.
- Professional demeanor, excellent communications, and presentation skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to work effectively with teams.
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation and case management
