Foundation Development Director
About the Position:
The Harnish Foundation is seeking a Development Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the Harnish Foundation, execute its mission, and achieve its charitable goals.
The Harnish Foundation is a private foundation whose mission is: “To make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and to improve their quality of life, within the Harnish Group Inc. CAT territories in Washington, Alaska, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.”
Harnish Group Inc. is the Caterpillar equipment dealer operating in Central and Western Washington, Central and Eastern Montana, Northwestern Wyoming, Northwestern North Dakota and the state of Alaska.
This is a role for a detail orientated multi-tasker with good organization and communication skills. The position will support the Harnish Foundation Board of Directors as well as work closely with the Family Office Controller and an Administrative Assistant. Strong verbal and written email communication is necessary to correspond with current and prospective grant recipients in a polite, diplomatic, and professional manner. Consistent follow through, organization and attention to detail are keys to success. This role will not involve any fundraising duties.
Development Director Responsibilities:
- Budget and implement the charitable giving plan of the Harnish Foundation as determined by the Foundation Board of Directors or committees
- Lead a small team in sourcing, engaging with, evaluating eligibility of, and recommending potential grant recipients
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing grantees
- Monitor and assess ongoing capital campaigns, construction projects, and multi-year donations supported by the Harnish Foundation
- Maintain policies and procedures related to operations of the Foundation. Monitor Foundation expenses.
- Create and maintain reports and conduct presentations to the Board of Directors or its committees
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
- The information you will be working with is sensitive and confidential. The successful candidate must sign a non-disclosure agreement upon hire.
- MS Office experience, particularly Word, Excel, & PowerPoint is required.
- Prefer four or more years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrate strong organization skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong project management and facilitation skills
- Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others.
- Work schedule is in-office (non-remote) and work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- The Board of Directors may request evening or weekend availability as well as travel on an as-needed basis
We offer a competitive benefits package that includes a salary of $113,200 to $138,380 (based on tenure, skills, and experience), health benefits, vacation, sick leave, life insurance, 401(k) with profit sharing and company match.
