Vintage Car Curator
We are seeking a knowledgeable and mechanically inclined Vintage Car Curator. This is a rare opportunity for an expert in vintage automobiles—particularly those from the 1970s and earlier—to take on a pivotal role in maintaining, researching, and curating an extraordinary collection of historic vehicles and memorabilia.
- Mechanical Care & Maintenance
- Perform light mechanical work such as oil changes, minor repairs, and part replacements while preserving originality.
- Source, identify, and verify correct parts through hands-on experience and industry knowledge.
- Automotive Research & Documentation
- Trace vehicle histories, ownership records, and documentation to validate provenance and continuous identity.
- Maintain high attention to detail in compiling and organizing photographs, periodicals, and records.
- Collection Specialist
- Organize and manage the collection of books, magazines, artwork, petroliana, signage, and vehicle records.
- Catalog and archive items using best practices for historical preservation.
- Event & Travel Support
- Occasionally travel to inspect vehicles, attend events, visit restoration workshops, or accompany cars to shows and concours events.
- Deep knowledge of automotive history, including key makes, models, races, events, and individuals of note.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to conduct hands-on tasks and speak fluently about how classic cars are built, operated, and restored.
- Prior experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Vintage car auction houses
- Restoration shops
- Auto museums
- Vintage racing organizations
- Strong research and investigative skills with the ability to authenticate and document a vehicle’s legacy.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a methodical approach to recordkeeping and archiving.
- A self-motivated, independent work ethic with a high degree of trust and confidentiality.
- Experience managing archives, libraries, or artifact collections is a strong plus.
