Rental Manager - HOLT Truck Lease

HOLT Truck Lease is hiring a Rental Manager for their Houston locations. The Rental Manager, who will manage both Houston Idealease Rental locations, is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day relationship with the customers as well as the Rental Department. The Rental Manager will also maintain oversight of the Rental Fleet and assist Fleet management team.


Primary Responsibilities



  1. Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Rental Department.

  2. Achieve rental revenue, expense control, and profitability objectives.

  3. Sales and marketing of the Idealease Rental Department.

  4. Rental fleet equipment management.

  5. Assist the management team in preparing an Annual Business Plan


Rental Sales



  1. Assist in developing and implementing a rental sale, and marketing plan.

  2. Develop and use a systematic approach to rental sales calls utilizing telemarketing, mailers, and personal customer visits.

  3. Develop and maintain relationships with large-volume rental customers.

  4. Provide weekly and monthly sales reports to management as required.

  5. Establish Idealease rates for various equipment types through market analysis.

  6. Maintain a customer/ prospect sales database.


Rental Operations



  1. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for Rental Operations, to include check-in/ check-out of equipment, vehicle files, customer files, and daily yard checks.

  2. Daily interactions with the Service department to ensure rental equipment is maintained according to company standards and DOT regulations.

  3. Develop and maintain a system for daily yard checks and reporting of rental utilization to management.

  4. Develop and maintain a system for customer insurance files, verifying that customer coverage is documented and on file.

  5. Follow company procedures regarding credit policies.

  6. Develop and maintain a rental billing routine to ensure accurate and timely billing of rental charges to customers.

  7. Maintain a current and accurate customer turndown log.


Department and Personnel Management



  1. Utilize daily yard checks to focus marketing efforts on excess and underutilized equipment.

  2. Compare actual financial results monthly to the Business Plan and initiate corrective action as needed to ensure gross margin goals are accomplished.     

  3. Hire, train, and manage the rental sales and counter personnel.

  4. Create a professional environment to assure cleanliness, safety, and customer focus.

  5. Communicate and cooperate with all department managers and personnel.

  6. Assist in the collection of past due invoices as needed.

  7. Safeguard company assets by maintaining strong internal controls.

  8. Understand company policies and procedures and ensure that they are understood and followed by all personnel. Leadership, Personal Development, and Conduct

    1. Communicate and cooperate with all departments.

    2. Attend company meetings as required.

    3. Handle all employee and customer issues in a professional and courteous manner.

    4. Any other duties assigned by the Idealease General Manager.

    5. Display an earnest desire to perform assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.

  • 50 telemarketing calls per week

  • 10 in-person visits per week

  • 10 designated R2R per month

  • 87% average utilization per month

  • 25% monthly Gross Margin

  • 50% of the monthly revenue is generated by pure commercial rental customers
