Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for a Warranty Administrator who can be based at any of the following locations; San Leandro CA, Santa Rosa, CA, Eugene, OR, Medford, OR or Hillsboro, OR.
SUMMARY
The Warranty Administrator is responsible for monitoring completed warranty work to ensure consistent compliance with warranty policy and procedure, established by Caterpillar and Peterson Tractor Company. The Warranty Administrator, working under occasional supervision, plans and performs semi-routine duties requiring intensive knowledge of warranty policy and procedures as it applies to Earthmoving machines and our allied products. The Warranty Administrator must exercise judgment in the analysis of facts and conditions, to determine actions to be taken within specifications of standard practice and manufacturer’s guidelines. The Administrator will provide guidance and support to all warranty writer positions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist, lead, and conduct audits of the warranty process.
Serve as internal auditor for 20% of annual volume of the paid and pending warranty claims against supporting source documents for all PTCO locations.
Serve as oversight to claim settlement process to ensure maximum recovery.
Assist with audits conducted by manufacturers to ensure conformance with warranty guidelines and policies.
Monitor, and assist to correct, all claim statuses to ensure proper transaction according to time allowances of the warranty guidelines.
Report monthly, quarterly, and annually on warranty activity as required by management.
Work with accounting department in gathering relevant data to provide accurate report.
Assist in the development of new tools used to report warranty activity.
Warranty parts storage, return, and disposal process:
Develop inventory system and monitoring process to ensure conformance to warranty guidelines and maximum recovery.
Serves as liaison to:
Caterpillar warranty supervisors and analysts for problem resolutions.
PTCO accounting department to ensure accurate reconciliation of warranty accounts.
PTCO I.S. department as gatekeeper for access to warranty systems and ensuring application of proper coding.
Communications:
Interpret and define all warranty changes and updates and provide training to service, sales, and parts departments at all locations as needed.
Provide guidance toward company policy in the administration of warranty and goodwill.
Research and maintain warranty status, history, and customer information to ensure accuracy; update Sims in Cat Web as needed.
Retrieve relevant diagnostic data from Cat ET files and attach them to CatWeb Sims History on all electrical/electronic claims. Review these downloads for accuracy of data, dates and fault codes for before and after repairs.
Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required, Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field preferred; and a minimum of two years of administrative experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Must possess good knowledge of company warranty policy and procedures. Must possess extensive working knowledge of the Warranty Writers’ position and have the ability to assist on an as-needed basis in the processing of claims and answering questions. Must be knowledgeable of the Goodwill process and assist the Service Department Managers with the request and authorization process to maximize recovery.
The California hourly pay range for this position is: $39.00 - 43.00 hourly. The Oregon hourly pay for this position is $34.00 - 38.00. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
