We are seeking a dynamic Diesel/Power Train and Machine Shop Service Supervisor for our Component Rebuild Center (CRC) at our Flowood location. The Diesel/Power Train and Machine Shop Service Supervisor (CRC) is responsible for supervising the disassembly and assembly of diesel engines, power train, and other components, along with overseeing machine shop operations and coordinating painting operations. This role demands dependability and ownership of the operation, ensuring safe, efficient processes, high-quality outcomes, and team accountability.
The supervisor will approve timecards and payroll, document and administer accountability, recognize team performance, and write performance reviews to foster motivation and engagement. They will ensure compliance with all safety aspects of the operation (including correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining a 5-star housekeeping operation) and adopt a total quality approach to customer service to ensure exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction. The position will report to the Assistant Service Manager (CRC).
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Shop Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the function of a team of shop-based service technicians to ensure that all set-up, disassembly/re-assembly, overhaul, machining, and painting are executed at a consistently high level of quality.
Personnel Management: Hire, train, and evaluate employee performance; prepare and administer disciplinary actions; prepare staffing schedules and assignments; facilitate employee training and development to ensure the team develops the necessary skills to achieve maximum results.
Workflow Administration: Support and enable the administration of the service work order process and communication with the customer throughout. Take the lead on the preparation of customer quotes.
Operational Support: Collaborate with the Service Planner (and serve as a backup) to ensure the timely opening and closing of jobs in the company's billing system. This includes posting technician timecards, preparing/tracking external quotes, parts ordering/tracking, coordinating/expediting service schedules, and performing related reporting/filing.
Machine Shop Oversight: Manage the workflow of the machine shop to include boring, grinding, and precision measurement of engine and power train components; ensure all specialized machinery is maintained and calibrated in accordance with manufacturer standards.
Warranty & Policy: Administer the enforcement of warranty and goodwill determinations in accordance with prescribed company policy standards and metrics.
Stakeholder Communication: Attend daily meetings with the service management team to ensure that all parties are updated on work in progress. Keep all stakeholders (machine sales, product support sales, customer) regularly updated on the status of engine/components/ machining repairs.
Safety Culture: Engage personnel to inspire and embed an overall culture of safety. Administer and enforce high standards for housekeeping and safe work practices.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate or higher-level degree from accredited institution in a sales, business administration, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 6-8 years of work experience as a service technician or a machinist in an automotive or truck engine repair or industrial machine shop environment. Therein, a minimum of 2-4 years of dedicated supervisory experience is required.
Ability to read and comprehend moderately difficult computer-based schematics, specifications, precision measurement tools, technical bulletins, and safety manuals.
Solid mechanical systems knowledge of diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems, and precision machining tolerances.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and dedicated experience using dealer management information systems (DBS and SIS).
Refined customer relations, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to resolve customer service conflicts with professionalism and consistent application of company policy.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and effectively delegate in a fast-paced, detail- and deadline-oriented environment.
