VP - Fixed Operations - HOLT Truck Centers

The VP of Fixed Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational excellence of both the Parts and Service departments within HOLT Truck Centers. As such, this role provides visionary and inspirational leadership, development of the organization’s human resources, management of capital resources, fulfillment of stakeholder needs, oversite of daily operations, and collaborative team building.  Additionally, the VP of Fixed Operations is expected to collaborate with all stakeholder groups, to practice on-going self-development initiatives as well as demonstrate and champion alignment with the Core Business Values in their daily work actions.  As part of a group of organizational leaders, this leader shares a spirit of collaboration to ensure continued stability and growth over all facets of the organization.


Essential Functions: 



  • Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission

  • Provides strategic direction, market analysis, business planning, and operational oversight to the management team; Defines key business drivers and metrics and provides necessary resources

  • Provides oversight on operational performance opportunities, financial issues and matters of strategic importance

  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction as measured by various surveys and metrics

  • Evaluates and oversees capital resources (e.g. financial, facilities, tooling inventories) of Parts and Service to optimize revenue and meet the balanced needs of all stakeholder groups

  • Ensures successful management of daily operational practices (structure, systems, processes) to provide Legendary Customer Service

  • Promotes a culture of safety and discipline through leadership, exemplary personal compliance, accountability and communication

  • Performs other duties as assigned 


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 



  • Expert technical aptitude and understanding of the heavy equipment and trucking industry

  • Strong knowledge of business accounting principles, budget preparation, and strong business acumen

  • Proven ability to lead and implement key strategic projects that have significantly improved the profit and growth trajectory of a business

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with vendors, own staff, and corporate executives to exchange information, influence and persuade

  • Exceptional skills required in solid problem solving, planning, organization, time management and analysis

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office skills to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills; customer retention

  • Excellent formal presentation skills before both small and large groups

  • Driven and results oriented; business development, KPIs, and market expansion to meet corporate targets 

  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations  


 


Education and Experience: 



  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required, bachelor's degree in related field preferred

  • 10 or more years of directly related business management and/or operational management experience leading a diverse team and offering a broad range of product and service offerings required

  • At minimum, five years of previous management experience is required


 


 Supervisory Responsibilities: 


This position directs and manages employees within assigned business unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 


 


Travel:  



  • Up to 50% travel required: ability to travel frequently to and from meetings, or other business-related events 

  • Valid Driver’s License 


 


Physical Requirements: 



  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc. 

  • This role frequently communicates with employees, vendors, and stakeholders; Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines

  • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.  

  • Safety training required; PPE required in certain areas


 


Work Environment: 



  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment

  • Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity

  • Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
