ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
· Promote the growth and education of employees within the Employee Development Program, by providing instructor-led trainings and direction for employees within their Individual Learning Plans. · Conduct trainings in a variety of settings, including classroom, shop, or field, on topics necessary to develop knowledge and create an efficient and productive work force. · Build and deliver training classes on a variety of topics, particularly as it relates to maintenance, system operation, repair, and service of Caterpillar engines and equipment. · Have a thorough understanding of the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair on various Caterpillar systems, so as to be able to instruct, including but not limited to: § Cooling Systems § Electrical Systems § Electronic Systems § Fuel Systems § Hydraulic Systems § Powertrain Systems § Starting / Charging Systems § Steering / Brake / Suspension Systems § Tier 4 Systems § Vehicle Systems · Possess an understanding of Caterpillar parts and guidelines, with an ability to understand and teach Failure Analysis and Reusability. · Meet with employees to ensure they are receiving the necessary support from the Training Department, offering advice to guide employees through their desired professional goals. · Work with managers and supervisors in all areas of the company to help set curriculum that best serves the company and departmental needs. |
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS |
· Understand and utilize the company Learning Management System and Caterpillar’s Dealer Performance Center, assisting managers and employees to access and operate these systems. · Assist in scheduling and maintaining the company-training calendar to ensure all employees are aware of upcoming classes. · Develop and maintain all necessary files, including presentations, literature, and video, needed to conduct requested trainings. · Work with Training Assistant to coordinate all necessary arrangements and contacts prior to training classes, as well as follow-up and documentation after the training has concluded. · Obtain, possess, and maintain any certifications that would be necessary to train on subjects required of the position. · Take care of all company equipment assigned to both the individual as well as the department, including any company vehicles. |
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY |
· Must be high school graduate or equivalent. · Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including excellent public speaking and presentation skills, to speak clearly and effectively in front of both large and small groups of people, including members of management. · Must be able to conduct classroom-training sessions that are informative and hold the students’ attention. · Extensive background and understanding of the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Caterpillar engines and equipment. · Must be able to read and understand all types of Caterpillar literature, including parts and service manuals, schematic, and prints. · Must have a background in Caterpillar equipment, to recognize and understand all the various machine systems. · Good computer skills are necessary, including the ability to use various programs, such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. · Must be self-motivated to organize time and priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team. · Must have the ability to operate Caterpillar machinery to train technicians on startup, move and shut down procedures and for diagnostic purposes. · Must have background in repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Caterpillar engines and equipment. · Must have knowledge of air condition systems operations, use of air conditioning service tools and of Federal regulations concerning servicing of air conditioning systems. PREFERRED · Technical school or college training preferred. · Previous training as an instructor or teacher would be helpful. · Experience as mechanic/technician at a dealership, Construction Company or mine would be beneficial. |
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS |
· Material and equipment directly used: audio visual aids, video camera, personal computer, TV/DVD, voltmeter, overhead projector, technical material, and product information materials, training materials, prepared training modules, and/or any other pertinent information necessary to conduct meaningful training session. Basic hand and special diagnostic tools used in the repair of Caterpillar equipment. R12 and R13 air-conditioning recovery/recycling and diagnostic equipment. Basic hand and special diagnostic tools used in the repair of Caterpillar equipment. · Travel required both in and out of state and staying overnight not unusual. · Classroom and out of door presentations any time of the year. · Use of basic hand tools, gauges and instrument. · Mount and dismount various types of equipment using ladders, hand and foot holds, along with bending and squatting. · Work at various times of day or night to meet company or customer needs. · Exposure to grease, oil fumes and noise at various levels. · Sit or stand for long periods. · Must hold a valid driver’s license. |
