Field Service Technician - Mining

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Field Service Diesel Technician working on heavy construction and mining equipment surrounding our Buhl location. A company vehicle is provided. Sunday - Wednesday day shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including off-highway trucks, large excavators/shovels, large wheel loaders, dozers, and other large construction equipment to support Mining operations

  • Uses a high degree of independent judgment to repair a variety of complex equipment and tools, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems
  • Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
  • Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
  • Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction; identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory

Qualifications:

  • 1 or 2-year technical college /diploma degree in diesel technology or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
  • 3+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably some field experience
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; previous experience with CAT equipment preferred
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively, interact with supervisors, customers and team members
  • Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
  • Own mechanic tool set
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment including service truck
  • Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by the supervisor
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record
  • Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period
  • Obtain a DOT medical certification card
  • Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical due to the role being deemed safety sensitive position
  • Able to operate equipment safely
