Working within an industry leading organisation at Finning, and the largest CAT dealership in the UK and Ireland, your role as Assistant Fitter will be to provide a service to all departments within the facility, supporting workshop engineers with servicing and repair duties and carry out machine movements, crane lifts, mobile crane lifts, lift truck movements ensuring all carried are out in a safe manner.Job Description:
Major Job Functions
- Carry out machine movements on and off transporter vehicles using the most appropriate tools/equipment, that could include slinging, forklift truck, cranage, etc.
- Support the engineering team with daily service and repair duties
- Record all movement details of all machines and attachments on/off site and ensure that a release document is obtained/completed before the equipment leaves site.
- Control all lifts within the facility making sure that all lift plans are in place.
- Preliminary assessment of machine condition reporting any damage or missing items through the appropriate channels.
- Refuel all machines as required.

Accountability
- Ensure all stock machines are clearly marked with all relevant information as to create greater visibility for all users.
- Make sure that daily check sheet for all yard equipment is up to date. Ensure shipping note accuracy.
- Ensure machines are stored in an efficient and tidy manner.
- Responsibility to ensure all lifting equipment is in a safe and operational state.
- Ensure machine attachments are stored in suitable place.
- Ensure all machine movements on site are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner. Accountability for machine storage and condition.
- Work with co-ordinators, transport companies in order to forward plan and streamline machine movements.
Education and Experience
- 5 tonne and 15 tonne and above Counterbalance Forklift truck licence is an advantage
- NPORS licence or equivalent (desirable)
- Appointed persons certificate in the management of lifting operations (desirable)
- Iron fairy licence (desirable)
