Position Summary
Position develops and effectively manages book-of-business within assigned territory. The Account Manager is responsible for the sale of new buses, parts, and service within their territory through continued relationship development of customer base and internal relationship management. Volume, market share, and profitability are the main key performance indicators of continued improvement for this role.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Actively call on customers and prospects in the assigned territory, maintaining account information, recording call activity, and categorizing customers in the CRM system. Account Manager will maintain customer and prospect contacts, who is an influencer and who is a decision maker, category of accounts, buying cycle, and use the information to create a weekly/monthly contact plan. Weekly contact plan is required to maintain an average of at least 15 face to face calls per week.
- Generate revenue and market share through equipment, parts, and service sales within assigned territory according to pre-established sales goals and gross profit objectives.
- Achievement of monthly/quarterly/yearly sales and gross profit budget goals.
- Possess or can obtain a CDL license within the first 60 days of employment to allow an ability to drive buses to customers for purposes of demonstration.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the bus product, features and benefits, how it compares to competition, and MacAllister support capabilities;
- Thinks strategically; educating customers, serving as a consultant and strategizing the best approach for covering assigned sales territory
- Manage the sales transaction from prospecting to order receipt to assistance with project management. Be able to use Blue Bird BOSS and Microbird GOL quotation system and purchasing coop programs such as CIESC and IAESC. Also be able to review specifications and provide necessary documentation for schools that individually bid their school bus purchases.
- Interface with other MacAllister sales and service personnel in a team based approach, assisting others as needed to achieve sales goals and “make it happen”. Responds to sales support staff requests and requirements in a timely manner; understanding the importance of each individual contribution to the team’s overall success.
- Educate customers on our products and services through product specifications, demonstrations and presentations.
- Ensure paperwork is timely and complete, deal analysis is performed, and assist with Smartsheet creation.
- Assist sales team with new product order reviews to ensure order accuracy and cost control.
- Host customers on factory tours to Blue Bird and ROUSH CleanTech as needed.
- Complete product trainings as offered from Blue Bird, MicroBird, ROUSH CleanTech, or other partners; remote or onsite as needed.
- Represent MacAllister and Blue Bird at local and national shows and meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No formal responsibility for supervising others
Position Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 years or more of experience in sales
- Valid class B CDL or obtain a class B CDL within 60 days of employment
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a business related concentration
- 5 years or more of experience in sales, preferably with commercial buses

- Proficient computer and data entry skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn Blue Bird/MacAllister/Michigan Cat systems
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
