DESCRIPTION:

Provides technical assistance and support to all departments and branches on Caterpillar & Allied products including service literature and product systems to help control warranty and redo expense and maintain customer satisfaction. 

Compensation: $0-1; negotiable

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School diploma or Equivalent
  2. Technical knowledge of Caterpillar and Allied equipment normally obtained through a minimum of 5 years’ experience performing various types of repair procedures on the equipment preferred
  3. Ability to use the computer and direct others in computer usage and analysis of information
  4. Demonstrated ability with strong verbal, written and administrative inter-personal skills with computers and diagnostic tooling
  5. Ability to interpret electric, hydraulic and other types of schematics and blueprints

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinate technical issues and provide technical information by acting as liaison between manufacturers/suppliers, Company service personnel and customers to support customer service events, jobsite startups and services of rental fleet products and by obtaining technical information
  2. Obtain technical information to provide branch personnel and customers assistance to repair equipment. Act as a liaison between Boyd personnel and factory contacts and branches
  3. Travel to branches and customer jobsites when assistance is required to complete a repair procedure This will include taking special diagnostic tools to enable us to perform diagnostic procedures beyond the capabilities of branch personnel
  4. Maintain the corporate technical library and provide assistance to branches on literature needs
  5. Provide documented information to Service Development Manager.
  6. Provide assistance to branch personnel in equipment repairs within 12 hours after dispatched by supervisor and compile a listing of these situations to keep track of repeat problems and to use as a reference for product problem research
  7. In extreme troubleshooting situations, involve Caterpillar personnel and, if necessary, travel to jobsite with Caterpillar personnel to solve problems
  8. Provide a monthly listing of possible product problems to Service Development Manager
  9. Answer questions on PIP program from branch personnel and are available to assist to ensure PIP’s are completed in a timely manner
  10. Provide parts and tooling recommendations for new products
  11. Perform other duties as necessary and assigned
