Job Summary:
Fabick Cat is seeking a skilled and motivated Shop Technician – Truck and Diesel Engine to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for diagnosing, engine rebuilding, and performing various repairs on medium to heavy-duty trucks and other diesel engines. The technician will be expected to work on engines from all major manufacturers, applying advanced troubleshooting skills across a wide range of systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
Responsibilities:
* Diagnose repair needs and perform assigned repairs on customer-owned medium to heavy-duty trucks and on-highway vehicles.
* Work on a variety of engines from all major manufacturers.
* Perform a wide range of mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
* Perform complete engine rebuilds
* Conduct preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep to ensure peak machine performance and longevity.
* Utilize diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments to detect faults in all machine systems including electronics, hydraulics, powertrain, and engines.
* Operate equipment as necessary to determine repair needs or to verify the success of completed repairs.
* Disassemble and assemble machine components to the manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling provided by Fabick Cat.
* Read and interpret equipment manuals, service bulletins, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
* Research parts and repair needs using company systems and order parts as needed.
* Load or unload equipment or components from customer-owned or common carrier vehicles in a safe and secure manner.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all OSHA Safety and Health rules.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED required; technical school certification preferred.
* 4+ years of experience in diesel, truck, or heavy equipment repair required.
* Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools and repair procedures for on-highway vehicles.
* Familiarity with reading and interpreting service manuals and schematics.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend and stoop to perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
