JOB SUMMARY:
The Compensation Lead is responsible for developing. analyzing and administering Empire’s compensation programs. This includes reviewing and ensuring that the compensation programs support the company’s objectives and are competitive and compliant. This role is responsible for a variety of compensation processes such as job evaluations, job descriptions, compensation benchmarking and pay structures. The role also maintains Human Resource related management systems ensuring compensation data is accurate and current. Provides compensation guidance to leaders and HR business partners as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analysis for competitive pay positioning. Participate in salary surveys, manage survey data in the company’s market pricing tool, analyze and complete complex analysis and modeling of the company’s pay structures and market competitiveness, and propose recommended changes.
2. Own evaluation and leveling of all new and revised jobs. Work with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and leadership on this including finalizing job descriptions.
3. Develop presentations for leadership for the annual pay study and as required for other compensation related projects.
4. Participate in annual salary administration programs, including salary structure changes and the development and maintenance of Empire’s annual salary increase scales.
5. Manage the company’s bonus program including eligibility, accrual updates, calculations and payouts.
6. Subject matter expert on the market pricing system and responsible for managing the tool, including keeping employee, job, market, and structure data current.
7. Prepare and deliver compensation training to leaders.
8. Manage the company’s job descriptions ensuring consistency of content and language and maintaining the job description repository, ensuring it is current.
9. Consult with HRBP’s and leaders on compensation-related issues.
10. Create and provide compensation reports and analysis as requested. Assist with research and data required for audits.
11. Provide subject matter expertise on FLSA classifications, job design, and wage and hour compliance.
12. Maintain compensation knowledge and best practices through engagement with compensation communities and organizations.
13. Maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
14. Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
15. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

1. Supervise, coach, and/or mentor direct report(s) or subordinate group.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILTIITES:
1. Ability to interpret and summarize complex data, generate insights, and present recommendations effectively.
2. Must have analytical thinking and mathematical skills and be able to perform required math calculations.
3. Advanced Excel skills and experience with HRIS and compensation systems; analytics tools a plus.
4. Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage compensation projects with minimal guidance.
5. Strong consultative skills, ability to handle complex issues and develop credibility across the company.
6. Strong understanding of compensation best practices, laws and market trends.
7. Maintain general knowledge of Federal, and states’ employment laws and their interpretation.
8. Independent problem solving and self-direction skills.
9. Strong communication skills and ability to influence others.
10. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
11. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. College degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or field and/or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum 8 years of Compensation experience.
3. Experience with Human Resources systems including in-depth compensation management system.
4. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is a plus.
5. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
