Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for a Human Resources Representative based at our Hillsboro, OR location.
SUMMARY
The Human Resources (HR) Representative serves in a generalist role administering policies and procedures, in addition to providing program design and revision input, generally in two or more functional areas. Assigned areas of responsibility may include the following functional areas: workers compensation, safety administration, employee leave administration, human resources information system (HRIS) administration, talent acquisition, and generalist duties such as updating and creating job descriptions, compensation administration, employee onboarding, and employee relations.

Human Resources Information Systems
Provide support for HRIS, including researching and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results or process flaws, performing maintenance and data integrity activities; perform general HRIS data entry and digital file maintenance as assigned.
Assist in the review, testing and implementation of HR software solutions.
Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reporting and help to maintain data integrity in all HR systems.
Assist in the development of user procedures, guidelines and documentation.
Train end-users and new users on system/processes etc.; develop job aids to facilitate training needs, which might include audio/video solutions.
Provide time exports and reporting to the payroll team to assist in the processing of all payrolls and other auditing as needed.
Assists with focal review monitoring, uploading related data and provides day to day support to all managers regarding HRIS functions and data management.
Supports affirmative action plan information mapping and related administration.
Generalist
Administer new hire background and medical screening process. Determine if candidates meet established employment standards.
Conduct employee new employee orientations.
Create and revise job descriptions.
Conduct and participate in salary surveys.
Respond to unemployment claims and reference check inquiries.
Assist supervisors with routine employee relations issues such as reviewing performance reviews, providing input on attendance related matters, issuing no drive letters etc.
Assists with department training initiatives to include coordination of event as well as co-leading in-house training initiatives.
Assists with employee service award activities and other employee events.
Provides Employee Opinion Survey support to managers as needed.
Talent Acquisition
Partner with hiring managers to develop an accurate job description, define recruiting strategy for the position, and write and publish job advertisements.
Phone-screen candidates, coordinate candidate interviews with hiring managers, conduct reference checks, document and provide results to HR Manager.
Prepare offer letters to successful candidates and coordinate presentation with hiring managers.
Coordinate and participate in college and high school recruiting initiatives.
Represent company and local, regional and national networking, industry events, job fairs and conferences.
Transition candidates to Human Resources Administrator when candidates accept job offers.
Travel to branch locations to partner with hiring managers for interviews and other recruiting related meetings.
Conduct exit and stay interviews.
Maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure candidate records are complete and that the recruitment process is accurately tracked.
Correspond with job applicants to keep them updated as to their status in the recruitment process.
Partner with additional internal support teams such as IT, Operations, Payroll to ensure a seamless on-boarding and day one experience for new hires.
Monitor and document recruiting outreach efforts to demonstrate compliance with Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).

JOB SCOPE

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Human Resources Administration or other closely related field; and a minimum of one year of directly related experience in Human Resources, preferably in a heavy industrial environment with employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Previous experience using Human Resource Information Systems, including Applicant Tracking Systems and/or time and labor management systems, etc. strongly preferred.
Possess understanding of affirmative action in order to uphold efforts to support diversity and fairness in the workplace.
Basic understanding of employment labor laws; willingness to continue to learn.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability and willingness to obtain professional certification in Human Resources (PHR or SHRM-CP).
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
