Job Description:

  • Operate machine tools to manufacture direct materials and salvage worn parts for use in the remanufacturing process
  • Operate various power/air tools for deburring and cleaning parts
  • Measuring/inspecting parts machined with various tooling
  • Documenting/recording measurements
  • Level 1 is a technician that may require supervision, training or assistance to complete primary job functions
  • Maintain and clean equipment as required
  • Maintain Caterpillar contamination control initiatives
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 6 or higher.  Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
  • Competency in a machine shop environment is preferred
  • Experience operating horizontal and vertical Lathes, Radial Arm Drills, Milling Machines, and Surface Grinders is preferred
  • Accurate documentation and measuring skills is preferred
  • Ability to understand salvage specifications and related technical documentation is preferred
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively. 
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds 
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator 
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures 

Note:

  • This posting is for a static weekend shift scheduled Fri, Sat, Sun - 12 hours per day
  • The successful candidate may be required to complete training during a Mon - Thurs / Fri weekday shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

  • Hourly Rate: $36.05 - $54.59 / Hour
