Position Overview:

As a Technical Support and Solutions Engineer (TSSE) at Finning, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring customer satisfaction and shared success. Collaborate with senior team members and engineers on shovel assemblies and Engineer-to-Order upgrades and parts. You'll manage mining product reliability and performance issues, document and track technical and commercial challenges, and work closely with a diverse team of experts.

Job Description:

  • Prepare assembly drawings for use by the assembly labor force, ensuring all required information is present
  • Document and communicate with Caterpillar regarding any deficiencies encountered during the assembly process
  • Resolve discrepancies or omissions in assembly drawings
  • Document and report daily progress for internal and external groups
  • Track daily project labor force for various required groups
  • Manage inventory of all parts for electric rope shovel (ERS) assemblies
  • Attend daily and weekly meetings with internal and external groups regarding the progress of electric rope shovel assembly projects
  • Rapidly escalate project-critical obstacles to the appropriate individuals or groups
  • Lead, demonstrate, and champion a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring all safety standards, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements are communicated, implemented, and followed, with a focus on reducing Significant Injury Frequency (SIF) exposure
  • Assemble required information to reconcile guarantees (operating cost, mechanical availability) on contract fleets
  • Work in partnership with the product and technical teams to ensure customer feedback and insights are fed back into product development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Superior mechanical aptitude coupled with exceptional troubleshooting ability
  • Proven leadership skills to promote positive employee contributions and encourage teamwork
  • Awareness of mining equipment and their respective functions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel
  • Understanding of Gantt charts
  • Electric Rope Shovel experience is an asset
  • Ability to write reports and effective correspondence for internal and external audiences
  • Skilled at analyzing and synthesizing information to understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision-making
  • Adaptable to changing requirements and able to provide necessary support
  • Positive “can-do” attitude and customer-focused approach to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and passion

  • Permanent, full-time role
  • This position is on a 7x7 or 5x2 day shift rotation.
