The Used Equipment Inspector inspects running condition of used heavy earthmoving and AG equipment for purchase or trade-in, providing technical support for equipment valuation, provide CAT Certified machine training of operation and safety to current and prospective customers. This job demands the ability to diagnose and estimate repairs understanding how a machine should operate and perform.
Wages
The Used Equipment Inspector's starting wage will depend on experience and education. $71,448 - $90,000
Responsibilities
The The Used Equipment Inspector's essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Analyzes condition of heavy earthmoving and AG equipment considered for purchase or trade-in using the CATUSED.COM website.
• Determine condition of equipment, whether the equipment is in good or poor condition, estimates repair costs, along with recommendation for purchase or trade-in.
• Provide technical expertise and support to improve the products sold and serviced by dealer.
• Maintains records of inspections, including photo of equipment as required.
• Provides technical support to Sales Manager, sales and service departments as requested, such as Product Improvement Program (PIP) and attachments.
• Reviews service repairs for accurate cost and quality.
• Travels in and out of local territory to user/purchaser location(s) as required in the performance of equipment inspections and demonstrations.
• Research new CAT Equipment to understand new options and operator procedures.
• Maintains department vehicle and technical tools.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree desirable, and five to seven year’s related experience (methodical technician with substantial knowledge of heavy equipment) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid California Driver's License as required for transportation and demonstration purposes.
