Mining Electrification and Power Systems Specialist

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager – Electrical and Electrification, the Energy Solutions Specialist will drive product support solutions across power generation, power systems related to charging and propulsion of mining machines, micro-grids, and BESS. This role goes beyond power generation—supporting the broader electrification of the mining sector through strategic sales and service initiatives that deliver whole-of-life equipment support and exceptional customer experience.

 

 

Roster:  Mon – Fri 8.5 hours per day (including unpaid meal breaks)

Location: Perth Precinct (Perth Airport, WA)

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Build strong relationships with current and future clients across the mining and construction industries to deliver tailored product & support proposals for current and emerging OEM technologies that will reduce their operating costs and GHG emissions
  • Be involved in industry leading product development and testing for electrification and emissions reduction projects of heavy industry machines.  
  • Partner with WesTrac and Caterpillar sales teams and account managers to shape market-specific energy solutions strategies
  • Work with operations to align team capabilities with execution needs
  • Support the Business Unit Manager – Electrical and Electrification, collaborating with Sales Mining and Account Managers to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Champion WesTrac’s “easy to buy, easy to own” approach by delivering practical, end-to-end solutions that simplify ownership and maximise value

 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the mining industry that includes transferable skills and knowledge of electric power systems and mining machines
  • Excellent communication skills across verbal, written, and interpersonal channels
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative team
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
  • Strong initiative and analytical mindset, with experience in sales data and performance reporting
  • Sound technical knowledge and understanding of complex power systems

 

 

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Electrical Trade Certificate with 15+ years in power generation, including 5+ years in account management
  • Strong commercial acumen in product support and technical sales within the energy sector
  • Solid grasp of Whole-of-Life Cost modelling and its application in customer solutions
