Proposal Specialist
- Develop and build strong, positive relationships with both existing and potential customers.
- Quote, follow up, and close sales transactions within assigned authority parameters, completing all required sales documentation.
- In collaboration with Territory Manager and customers, develop a project proposal package which adheres to project design and specifications. Product lines include but not limited to, Cat specified Retail and Large generator, and switchgear product lines.
- Utilize online construction and bidding services to identify project solicitations in the assigned territory for Power Generation equipment.
- Review engineering specifications and drawings to quote equipment that will meet the project requirements.
- Support the Territory Managers as well as customers by providing technical information, literature, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Update the Bid Calendar and the Pipeline as needed.
- Support Project Managers by assembling submittals, drawings and delivery information. Communicate project status to project team, including customers. Coordinate handoff between Sales and Product Support during delivery and commissioning of equipment.
- Learn about CAT and competitive products in order to offer the best solutions based on customer interests and concerns.
- Assist in maintaining and updating account and opportunity information in CRM.
- Attend trade shows, sales meetings and conferences as required. Support project management with submittal packages.
- Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in an electrical field or technical sales field
- Ability to identify customer needs and challenges, and effectively communicate and present product offerings
- Understand and have the ability to apply NEC equipment standards, NPFA, and local codes
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat) and the ability to learn to effectively use company software
- Strong understanding of the terminology related to the electric power business and codes
- Ability to use CRM software to maximize the product support process
- Excellent phone and in-person customer service and communication skills
- Electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to drive and valid driver’s license required
- Two years of electrical experience
- Electrical Power, Electrician, Generator or Reciprocating Engine experience
