This permanent full‑time FIFO role offers stability, growth, and the opportunity to work in the stunning Pilbara region, reporting to an experienced Workshop Supervisor who values your contribution.

 

Based at Rio Tinto’s Ancillary Equipment Shutdown Workshop, you’ll be trusted to work with minimal supervision while collaborating with both WesTrac and Rio Tinto.

 

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for carrying scheduled maintenance, service and repairs including diagnosing all Caterpillar machines. If you thrive on variety, hands‑on problem‑solving, and working with cutting‑edge Caterpillar equipment, this is the perfect environment to excel.

 

Location: Tom Price – Accommodation in Rio Tinto Tom Price Camp

 

Roster: 2/1 (7D/7N/7O) – 12.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break)

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Component replacements
  • Hydraulic tunes/performance tests post shut
  • Fault finding of Hydraulic & electrical issues if they arise
  • Updating ECM’s with latest software/config files

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Technology trade certificate with post trade experience.
  • High Risk Work Licence
  • Strong computer literacy with verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in maintenance servicing of heavy equipment (mobile plant / ancillary).
  • Excellent customer service and safety focused.
  • Confident to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
