Position Summary

This position serves as the regional expert for all paving sales, support and service.  Individual serves as first point of contact for customers with paving issues; troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving customer issues.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement the strategic plan for paving product support; proactively understanding and meeting the needs of all paving customer needs. Acts as liaison between Sales and Service staff regarding paving equipment issues
  • Serves as the regional expert on paving industry and methods, training MacAllister Product Support Representatives and HE Sales Representatives on CAT paving equipment.
  • Trains and educates customer base on CAT paving product line
  • Serves as first line of contact for any paving issues. Troubleshoots and assists customers in working through problems, interfacing with service department and utilizing MacAllister Technicians as necessary
  • Performs delivery of all new asphalt paving equipment and trains customer crews and mechanics on best paving practices, including proper operation and maintenance of paving products and related systems.
  • Serves a primary liaison between MacAllister and Caterpillar Global Paving, solving issues and seeking win-win for all parties involved
  • Impacts and influences the sales and support success of MacAllister paving products
  • Represents MacAllister in the Asphalt Paving Association of Indiana (API) organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No formal responsibility for supervising others

Position Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in technical field
  • 5 years of paving industry experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • 7 years technical experience with pavers
  • 2 years sales experience

  • Strong understanding of the paving process and paver automation systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent customer service skills and a thorough understanding of Price, Quality and Turnaround principles
  • Ability to travel and work long hours as required
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss paving products with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work on machines, troubleshooting, identifying and resolving technical issues
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong long-term relationships.

Other Requirements of Position

  • Works under general supervision. Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually report on such problems.  More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager
  • Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies
  • Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents
