ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Troubleshoot and inspect customer's equipment by visual inspection and via the use of testing and diagnostic equipment to determine problems or malfunction.
  • Remove, repair or replace components or piece parts on engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, air systems, fuel systems, transmissions and related power train systems to meet or exceed the expectations of the Contract Site Supervisor and the customer.
  • Write detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job and what has been done.
  • Work varied shiftwork.
  • Detail-oriented in documentation as accuracy is a key part of the daily job.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review data from the trouble shooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates.
  • Review data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed and accurate parts orders.
  • Operate mining and construction equipment.
  • Work with a positive attitude and with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Work overtime as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY

·         High School diploma or equivalent.

·         Valid driver’s license in good standing.

·         Able to read and understand English.

·         Able to work in any position on a piece of equipment

·         Able to read and understand parts books, service manuals and electrical and hydraulic schematics.

·         Able to read and comprehend service literature and basic tools.

·         Demonstrate the ability to read a load chart.

·         Know and understand basic arithmetic.

·         Able to safely rig or hook for lifting and part or component of a machine.

·         Mechanical background.

·         Able to think and work through difficult projects or problems.

·         Able to write meaningful and legible service reports.

·         Know and understand the various types of systems on a multitude of different pieces of equipment.

·         Able to work in a meaningful and productive manner during the course of daily job assignment.

·         Own or ability to obtain required tooling.

PREFERRED

  • Able to perform DOT inspections.
  • CDL or ability to obtain.
  • Exposed to construction and mining equipment through technical schools or on-the-job training as a mechanic or mechanic’s helper at a repair shop, construction company, small contractor or a mine.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

·         Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, etc. for an extended period of time

·         Lift up to 50 lbs.

·         Use hands for simple grasping, pushing & pulling and fine manipulation

·         Use feet frequently in repetitive movement

·         Exposure to grease, oil, dirt, loud noises, extreme weather conditions, etc.
