The Senior Tax Manager leads the Company’s tax function and serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership. This role is designed as a succession path to Tax Director and offers significant autonomy in shaping tax strategy, planning, and compliance across a complex multi-entity organization.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can operate independently, identify tax planning opportunities, and continuously improve processes while developing a high-performing team. This position owns all tax responsibilities including income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and regulatory compliance for Warren Equipment Company and its subsidiaries.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Tax Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the Company’s overall tax strategy, planning initiatives, and compliance
  • Identify and implement tax savings opportunities, incentives, and process improvements
  • Serve as primary tax advisor to executive leadership and business operations
  • Monitor changes in tax law and assess impact on the organization
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy in managing tax positions and decision-making

 

Income Tax & Provision

  • Manage preparation and review of the federal consolidated tax return and all subsidiary filings
  • Oversee preparation and review of all state income and franchise tax returns
  • Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments
  • Lead preparation of the annual income tax provision
  • Coordinate with external advisors and auditors as needed

 

Indirect & Property Tax

  • Oversee sales and use tax compliance and reporting across all jurisdictions
  • Manage property tax filings, valuations, and appeals
  • Ensure accurate taxability of transactions within business operations
  • Oversee unclaimed property compliance and escheatment requirements

 

Compliance & Governance

  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities
  • Oversee annual state registrations and reporting requirements
  • Manage 1099 reporting processes
  • Complete federal census and other regulatory reporting
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations

 

Systems & Process Ownership

  • Own and optimize tax systems including OneSource and UltraTax
  • Support tax forecasting within Workday Adaptive Planning
  • Lead process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk
  • Control and minimize third-party tax-related fees

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two tax professionals
  • Delegate responsibilities while maintaining appropriate oversight
  • Build bench strength and succession planning within the tax group
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment

 

Business Partnership

  • Partner with accounting, finance, and operational leadership
  • Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions
  • Support acquisitions, restructurings, and new business initiatives
  • Prepare tax updates and presentations for senior leadership

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive tax experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax compliance
  • Experience with tax provision preparation
  • Proven ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Preferred

  • CPA certification
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm preferred)
  • Experience in multi-entity or consolidated tax environments
  • Experience with sales/use and property tax
  • Experience leading or mentoring staff
