Position Overview:

As an Account Analyst I, you will be a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of Finning Canada’s financial operations. This role is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of system error trays and the reconciliation and investigation of Caterpillar (CAT) payable liability accounts. You will also manage the reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and ensure the timely completion of journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.

This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for problem-solving. You’ll collaborate across departments to resolve discrepancies, support financial reporting, and uphold compliance with internal controls. Your work will directly support Finning’s commitment to operational excellence and financial transparency.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Track, maintain and reconcile balance sheet and related income statement accounts (parts tariff, CAT payable, unbilled service WIP, etc.)
  • Follow up of discrepancies and variances discovered on balance sheet and income statements
  • Complete month, quarter and year-end journal entries
  • Make monthly, quarterly and year end entries before cut offs
  • Ensure presentation of information is professional, timely and accurate
  • Ensure reconciling items are resolved on a monthly basis
  • Represent the company in an ethical and professional manner and maintain confidentiality

Education & Experience:

  • Started post-secondary education in a related field
  • Working towards a designation (i.e. CPA) would be a plus
  • Atleast 2 years of relevant amount of related accounting experience
  • Proficient with MS office applications and internal systems
  • Knowledge of IFRS
