Power Generator Technician
Join our team as a Power Generator Technician in Riverside! We are seeking experienced technicians with a strong background in diesel engines, power generation equipment, and CAT systems. Starting wage for an Power Generator Technician will depend on experience and education. $33.80-$41.50
What You’ll Do:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on standby generator systems ranging from 5 kW to 3200 kW
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gas industrial engines
- Work with CAT engines and power generation systems
- Perform and follow proper procedures for load bank testing
- Troubleshoot AC/DC control systems and emergency repair situations
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
- Understand and work with automatic transfer switches (ATS) and control logic
- Complete preventative maintenance and major component repairs
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in the backup generator industry or related field
- Experience with diesel engines, generators, or heavy equipment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT), Cummins, Kohler, or Detroit engines highly preferred
- Knowledge of Tier 4 / aftertreatment systems is a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot fuel systems and engine controls
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
- Intermediate or higher-level computer skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation schedule
- High School diploma or equivalent
Pay & Benefits:
- $33.80 – $42.54/hr + OT
