PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Master Technology Service Technician is responsible for providing high-quality operational support for all Caterpillar Machine Technology. This role is critical to front-line support of Caterpillar’s technology platforms at the asset level and will have additional responsibilities for leading new technicians and workflow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Provide operational oversight for Digital and Technology infrastructure in Product Support
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, installs, and retrofits of technology devices to include Cat Command (Autonomous Hauling), Cat Grade, Cat Detect, Cat Payload, Cat Compact, Cat Safety, MineStar Products, Non-Cat and other Allied technology solutions
• Analyze repair queue and coordinate installations or repairs with customers
• Assist Caterpillar Engineers in Field Follow projects to identify and correct manufacturing defects
• Update, Troubleshoot, and Repair critical CAT and Non-CAT Grade Control systems
• Manage Remote Troubleshooting and Remote Flashing of necessary equipment error codes
• Diagnose and repair Fault Code induced components to maximize equipment life
• Using OEM schematics to diagnose and repair electrical components and wiring
• Update & Flash software in all machine ECMs (Electronic Control Modules)
• Follow all Caterpillar and dealership repair guidelines
• Perform other duties as necessary and assigned by the manager or supervisor
• Provide training and expertise for new technicians
• Independently organize, prioritize, and manage workload
• Utilize inspections to create leads for future service work
• Assist other departments in troubleshooting and repair of equipment
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and installations, of Product Link Pro and Elite systems (GPS)
• Utilize CAT Online Applications, VisionLink, to analyze actionable data, such as Troubleshoot errors within CAT Payload systems for quarry and mining applications
• Pull Product Status Reports and Configuration Files on necessary assets
• Diagnose and repair fault code producing Aftertreatment, Emission, and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) components
• Diagnostic Codes, and Schedule Oil Samples (SOS) to minimize machine downtime

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
Must have a high school education or GED.

Work Experience:
Eight years of experience with at least ten years of experience on Cat equipment or other similar equipment; Must be proficient in at least four mechanical systems (i.e., transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.) for numerous model lines.

Physical:
Must be able to stoop daily and repeatedly kneel, bend and climb besides, onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs. Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports. Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service. Must be able to work in adverse weather.


Other:
Must be able to effectively document repair activities on customer work orders. Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems. Should have basic proficiency using P.C. base equipment and parts information; must work independently with minimal supervision.


Field Activity- Must be able to daily operate an assigned service vehicle as well as be prequalified to operate under GPEC (Gregory Poole Equipment Company) Fleet Policy Standards. The driver must operate their assigned vehicle for extended periods to reach the customer’s location. Must be able to effectively communicate using a telephone and email to receive instructions and to provide service information. Must be able to effectively communicate directly with customers on the phone, through email as well as at site locations in a professional manner.


Additional: Field activities require a valid state driver’s license within the state of GPEC’s operation AND possess a safe driving record which meets the safe driving standards outlined in the GPEC Fleet Policy. Operating some vehicles will require a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), others may require a DOT medical certification. Some positions may require that you obtain a DOT medical certification before you are considered for the position. All positions requiring driving for company business or within a Company Owned Vehicle will be held to the GPEC Fleet Policy standards.
